BandBEAT 2009

November 8, 2009

On Saturday November 7th, the Mighty Viking Band competed in BandBEAT 2009 at Nation Ford High School in Fort Mill, South Carolina.  This competition is put on by Carolina Crown and uses the Preliminary-Final format.  One of the band’s goals for the day was to make finals, and although most of the bands there were larger than Tennessee High, they made the cut for finals.  It was a beautiful crisp sunny day.  The Band Boosters served food twice during the day and it turned out to be a very nice trip all around.

In finals there were no Classes.  The bands, large and small, competed for placement.  No other awards were given out.  Tennessee High placed 8th.

Prelims, however,  were done the traditional way with bands competing for awards within their own Class.  The MVB was in Class AA.  It was no contest.  Here are the results:

  • 1st Place Music in Class
  • 1st Place Marching Performance in Class
  • 1st Place General Effect in Class
  • 1st Place Drum Major in Class
  • 1st Place Color Guard in Class
  • 1st Place Band in Class
  • Class A and AA Champion
  • Highest Color Guard score of the day (in prelims and finals)
